Andrea Defrancesco did such a wonderful job with this tribute. It made me realize how much I already miss Charlie. There is so much about him that makes him soooo special: His humor, wit, intelligence, humbleness, passion and raw talent for starters as well as his love for his Awkward Turtles. She captured it all. Thank you Miss Andrea!! You rock!

Hahhaha as far as I know, he doesn't have any videos with his band (or else his family is hiding the footage in their turtle shells) He says on his YouTube channel that he doesn't like to show himself in his videos because he thinks music should be heard, not seen. But oh Charlie, you are so cute to look at! XD

ReplyDeleteI saw tweets from a fan that supposedly tweeted his buds fro 4Reps. She said they told her that there were videos of the band. But who knows? We'll just have to sit patiently and wait for whatever they have under their shells. :)
There are videos of the 4 Reps on YouTube.... which band are you referring to? Because I don't consider the 4 Reps a band, more like an a cappella group. On a couple of Charlie's videos in the description box it says "Coming soon from Arkansas's newest band Rough Around the Edges" As far as I know, there are no videos of this Rough Around the Edges (it's possible nothing ever happened with it though) If the band you're talking about is the 4 Reps there are quite a few videos of them.

Yes I did see that and I was so relieved he finally saw it! I hope he showed it to Charlie so he knows how much his fans love him and appreciate him. I just wish Charlie himself would communicate a little more with his fans too, if it wasn't for his dad, we'd know nothing! Guess he is just too busy with his new musical endeavors... ;-)
DeleteYeah it would be cool to see Charlie working on his music but I get the feeling since he is very private it would mess him up and make him feel self-conscious. He is so lucky he has all his own equipment and software, I just record my songs in an old shed/barn with my laptop- no mics, no ProTools, just Garageband.
And Charlie definitely should form a band, I think he'd feel more comfortable in that setting. He has some friends from home that I think were in that old band he had, it's just a matter of time now. And I really hope he gets invited back to the Idol finale to participate in a group number or two.

Just saw Idol tonight. Sorry about your boy. But it doesn't surprise me because they are trying to weed out the strongest boys first. Leaving the weakest is a good strategy to get themselves a girl winner, it just couldn't be more OBVIOUS!! I'm still loving Kree so I guess as long as she wins I will be ok. :)
Yes! I felt so bad for poor Devin, I think he knew they weren't going to use the Save on him. They aren't going to use it until a girl gets eliminated. I had to feel bad when he was up there giving such a heartfelt performance and thinking "THIS is the guy going home over Lazaro?" Kree is the only person I can really pull for at this point so I hope she wins too. I think the Final 2 will be her and Candice. I think for the first time ever we may have an all-female Top 5. It would just be a travesty if Lazaro made it over Amber or Janelle.
ReplyDeleteThey timed it really well. They placed their trio at the end so people would remember it. Lazaro messed up and threw the group off. Lazaro has a lot of support so it was going to be Burnell or Devin. Yup, the save is only for a girl this year. I still think Lazaro will end up high like 4th. It will bring a bit of drama which they love.
ReplyDeleteDid you see Charlie's new drawings? He's too cute. He really thinks and breaths art in different ways. If he only knew that all we want is for him to be on a video greeting us and just chilling and talking to us. But he loves to live in his turtle shell. :)
Yeah I did see his artwork! He seems to be more into abstract drawing than figure drawing. I think he could/should design his own album artwork. I can't see him wanting to use his own photo or especially if he was in a band, usually they use some sort of painting or drawing, and I think he could totally design it himself. He said in his Meet the Finalists interview that he thinks those kinds of things are awkward, so I guess he doesn't really like being on camera or talking to a camera lens. I hope eventually he learns to grow out of that because once he is famous (or already is) he will have cameras on him all the time. I have the feeling it stems from his insecurity about his appearance. He isn't exactly the typical Justin Beiber type of cuteness or what you would call "conventionally" attractive- I get the sense he feels insecure about his looks because of that, even though I think he's still very cute in his own unique way. Hopefully with the fans' support he will grow more confident about it and maybe not feel so camera-shy.

The fact she thinks she's entitled to him sending her flowers because she chose him to compete is just ridiculous. He doesn't owe her a damn thing, except maybe a good punch in the nose.
Oh I see. Thanks for the explanation. I believe this was her payback for the judges not keeping Curtis. She did what they (the other judges) did to her. She wanted Curtis badly. Devin was just a pawn poor thing. If it wasn't for Kree I would give up completely. I think Janelle will go home next then Burnell and finally Amber. At this point poor Lazaro will have endured all kinds of WTF comments from all angles. I pitty him already.
ReplyDeleteHer comments about the save are so hypercritical. She calls it "bullshit" but she didn't seem to think so when Curtis got eliminated! It's just a really immature way to handle it, she has a temper tantrum when she doesn't get her way. But I think (or at least hope) the reason she didn't use the save was because Devin most likely would have ended up in the bottom again next week, so it would have just been a waste. If that's the case, it was probably a smart move, even though from a vocal standpoint Devin deserved the save. I agree that Kree is the only reason I can hang on this season. I've even lost interest in Candice, she has a good voice, but there's no personality there. The other girls are all right, but again there are personality issues (or lack thereof). The guys just suck period.
ReplyDeleteHowever, hopefully Lazaro FINALLY gets eliminated this week, but if not, I think it will be Burnell followed by Amber. I predict all the guys to just drop off one by one. Amber is definitely the least popular girl and is the only girl so far to end up in the bottom. Janelle, while she probably has the weakest voice and should be the first girl to go, seems to actually be gaining popularity over the weeks. I don't see her going anywhere anytime soon.
Janelle is comfortable just being her. She's very bubbly and positive so I can see that gaining her more votes. Kree delivered yet again, so effortless. Loved her back story. I think that will gained her even more fans. Producers probably did that to make her the front runner since Angie is kind of lost in how to perform. She fine until they told her she was acting like a pageant contestant. Then she turned on the sexy and they told her NO! So now she looks unsure of how exactly to portray herself. She always does fine on the piano. Amber was the darling last night. I wasn't that impressed with her rock performance, it was too melodic for my taste. Candice will need to turn on the likability factor if she wants the top 3 spot. Her face gets this "angry" look too often even though i'm sure that's not what she's feeling. She has the vocals, power and range but in AI that's not always enough. I'm not even going to talk about the boys . They didn't do much for me to comment.
ReplyDeleteYes the boys were pretty bad as usual. Lazaro is the last person in that competition who should even attempt Queen. I wish Charlie could have been invited back just for this one week and show all these contestants how to sing a rock song and how to sing a rock song RIGHT!!!! He would have actually done Queen justice, or hell, the whole theme justice. Take out Lazaro and Burnell and put in Charlie and Gabe Brown! :D
ReplyDeleteI see Janelle being the Haley Reinhart/Hollie Cavanaugh of this season. She seems to be getting better and better each week and the only contestant that seems to have a growth arc. People like growth arcs, rather than just someone being good from the start because there's nowhere for them to go.
I disliked Amber's performance last night. It wasn't awful, but it certainly wasn't standing O worthy. She sounded off key on the key change....
Candice was the best vocally for me, and I'm not even that big of a Candice fan. She finally put some grit into her performance, even though I hate that Satisfaction song, she gave a good performance. I agree her personality is lacking though.
Kree was probably the 2nd or 3rd best for me. The pinched nerve thing makes sense for why she wasn't as good as she normally is, she was lacking in energy for me, and she usually hardly has any to begin with. Despite the circumstances, she still managed to give a stellar and professional performance.
Angie.... hmmmm.... she belongs in musical theater/Broadway. She's clearly into the whole acting thing and playing to the cameras and being theatrical. That is the only way she seems to know how to perform, is by acting like some other character (unless she's singing her own music). Her abilities as a performer are good, but are being displayed in the totally wrong area. Put her on Broadway. As for the performance itself, it was all right, I don't know how Evanescence qualifies as "classic" rock though.... Keith is right when he said she's too concerned with how she looks and never seems to get into a song.
My prediction for bottom 3 tonight is: Burnell, Lazaro, Amber with Burnell going home. If Amber gets eliminated, the judges will probably use the save. I would love for it to be Lazaro but I'm sure he'll scrape by again.
As I suspected, Lazaro has a big following. How do you put his performance in the top 3 , I will never know. I like the guy, I see how he struggles but at this point he has reached as far he can get with his talent alone. I still predict he'll be in the top 4.

Yes Charlie would have kicked some serious booty last night. But he'll show us that when he's ready to go on the road. I can't wait for that!! Right now he is cooking up stuff for us. We just gotta be patient and hope that his Dad throws us some more crumbs. He's been great at that so far. :)
I think his fans were worried he would be in the bottom again so they voted to make sure that didn't happen. It's basically a no-win (or in his case, a win-win) no matter what he does. If he performs badly and the judges/Jimmy throw him under the bus, his fans vote even more. If he gives a semi-decent performance and is his usual cute and courageous self, his fans vote. The only way at this point to get rid of Lazaro is for other fanbases to vote for the other contestants much more to ensure he gets the lowest number of votes. I can see him edging out Janelle or Amber for the top 5. He definitely shouldn't (and hopefully won't) get any farther than 4th though. Even Sanjaya and Tim Urban's fans knew when their time was up.
ReplyDeleteI was really surprised at the judges' top 3, except Mariah's. I can't understand how the whole season they've been praising Candice yet she was not in any of their top 3s, except Mariah. I agree she should be there with Kree, but the producers seem to be showing us an ugly side of her personality with the whole "I want to punch Burnell sometimes", "We told Lazaro the house was on fire," etc. thing. And some people complain she has a "bitch face" at certain moments where she just looks angry or pissed off for seemingly no reason, although I don't see it. Some people also think because she isn't a size 0 that the producers don't see her being as marketable as someone like Angie or Amber, although I personally don't see why her size should make a difference. Adele and Mariah Carey are certainly not size 0s but both have huge (pun intended) careers.
Haha when I read about Charlie kicking booty I couldn't help but think of his own booty hahahahhah I might sound creepy and like I'm sexually harassing him for this but I've always thought he had a rather cute little butt XD Hahhaah okay I'm done talking about his butt in inappropriate ways now XD But yeah I'm happy his dad keeps giving us little updates on what Charlie's doing, I just wish Charlie would also do some of that himself! When is he going to feel comfortable doing that? Perhaps never, unfortunately. Charlie's dad wrote on Twitter that he feels uncomfortable talking on the phone or chatting online, and like I mentioned before, I think the presence of cameras makes him uncomfortable if he is not in a stage setting. This could be a problem for when he has to give interviews but hopefully maybe he can grow into it if it's something he has to do a lot. Slowly but surely he is coming out of his turtle shell. XD
And the thing that is sad about the whole Lazaro situation is that the poor kid is being used. I don't like him very much because his level of talent is below average and he has edged out more worthy contestants, but that isn't entirely his fault and he certainly doesn't deserve to be used in the way that he is. People are either delusional and vote for him because they actually think he's good, which he isn't, but makes him think that he is and makes him think he has a chance of winning when he doesn't.
ReplyDeleteThere are people voting for him simply to be get back at the judges/producers/Jimmy and trying to foil the show's plans for a girl winner.
There are people voting for him hoping that he wins so that Idol will lose every last bit of credibility it has left and finally get kicked off the air.
Vote for the Worst is voting for him and obviously they are only doing it because their sole intention is to vote for the least popular contestant, not because they actually think that person has talent and deserves to be there.
There are people voting for him who simply think he is cute or who are too invested in the sob story.
There are people voting simply because they think it's funny to see the worst contestant get Top 3 and a much better singer go home.
Basically most of the people voting for him are doing it for the wrong reasons, mostly at his and the other contestants' expenses. If he is at all aware of it, he doesn't show it.
I do believe you are right but i think all these other voting parties came after him getting a large fanbase, mostly due to his looks and back story.
ReplyDeletePerception is big, that's why Candice having such a great voice won't win due to her facial expressions and now AI is editing to put her in 3rd or 4th place. I mean, they made Kree look like Snow White and Candice like the evil queen with her messing with Burnell. I still think Kree will win , but boy this season lost its magic fast.
You know if they hadn't tried to make it a "girls" season, this season could have had some amazing performers: Charlie, Gabe Brown, Nate Tao, Jesiah Baer (loved her audition, never saw her again), Kez Ban (although her Hollywood performances were awful so she didn't really deserve to advance anyway), Micah Johnson (why did they cut him? In fact why did they cut him, along with Gabe and Nate?), Bryant Tadeo, that Juliana girl who sang Skyscraper, Rachel Hale, Nick Boddington, Mattheus.... I mean DAMN they had such a great turnout this season and this was really the "best" they could come up with? Some of these people were voted in by America, okay, but some of their picks for the Top 20 weren't so hot either. It's like Season 9 all over again, mostly boring forgettable fodder with maybe one or 2 likable contestants. Snore.

Oh Lazaro , Lazaro , Lazaroooo, why can't you hear the music Lazaro?? That was painful to watch. And you know what? He is probably safe tonight. I remember thinking how could they have called his name instead of Charlie's. I knew then what i know now but i guess it took America a while to figure it out. Lazaro is not capable of a strong performances and now is more obvious than ever.

So Nigel has been hinting at something new happening after this season is over. People are guessing related to the AI concert, others think theree may be some Vegas AI show in addition to the tour. He has already said it's not an ALL Stars season, but it has to do with post Idol this year. It's something fun and positive. Any ideas?
Hmmm interesting, I actually didn't hear about that, so I really have no idea what it could be. It's a good possibility that it's related to the tour or it might be related to next season. Perhaps the audience next season will be able to pick the theme nights? (Please God!!!!)
DeleteYes, Lazaro is just way too in over his head. He already was even at Top 10 but now it's just getting beyond ridiculous. He never manages to pick a good key for himself but I guess it wouldn't matter that much because he's rarely in tune in the first place. It's just a joke that he is actually "competing" with all these other girls who are much better than him, not to mention he is the last guy standing over singers like Devin, Burnell, or even Paul/Curtis. And the fact that he said he's confident about getting into the Top 5 just shows that he knows he can half-ass every performance and his "fans" will vote him in. For the love of God, I can't even understand how people can be motivated to vote for this kid, much less actually be a fan of his. He's not the most awful singer ever but... he is a lounge or cruise ship singer at best. He needs serious work with a vocal coach if he actually wants to "make it" in the industry. Granted many pop singers today can't sing well either, but they at least remember lyrics, cover it up with autotune/background singers, and give a performance to distract from the bad singing. Lazaro just really can't do anything, he is so boring I basically tune out of his performances.
As scary as it is to say this, there is a possibility he might be Top 3 again this week because the judges bashed him hard and of course all those little girls that have no idea what real music is are gonna vote their little fingers off because he's so cute and he stutters and they want him to win so he can sing to them some more. BLEH There should be like a minimum voting age or something seriously
OMG Mariah is SOOOO annoying with her tangents and rambling!!!!! It actually irritates me. Like I can't listen to nothing but her voice for 5 minutes straight, it just gets awkward and annoying hearing nothing but her rambling. She makes good and helpful points when she finally gets to them but she needs to learn how to cut to the chase. She's getting paid $18 million for God's sake. Since TPTB already spoke to her about needing to actually critique more, let's hope they tell her to speed it up and not cut into the other judges' critique time. Nicki was looking at her watch by the time it got to her turn and she just completely skipped Lazaro and then limited herself to a few sentences because of how long Mariah takes.
Please tell me what is so great about Amber. I am not seeing it and neither is the rest of America, with the exception of the judges. Her rendition of Beyonce was great... otherwise do not get the hype.
I predict it's going to be Amber and Janelle in the bottom 2. Whoever goes home will get the save. If by some miracle Lazaro actually gets the lowest votes, buh-bye. Or should I say "adios"

I actually liked Angie's performance on the piano. Poor thing, i think she was crying because she was told to not stand up or she ruins everything! lol.
